Wow! What a Sunday we had in the house at C3 Church Wellington at both our Hutt and City locations! We had the ultimate pleasure to hear Pastor Bex Hinton preach the message ‘Lovable’. We love that Ps. Bex has such a gift of communication on her life - Ps. Bex will preach from her heart; and her love for Jesus and His people propels her to be vulnerable and transparent with us to communicate the heart of Jesus in such a powerful way. If you missed the message at either of our locations, keep reading, I’m going to fill you in!
The definition of ‘lovable’ means “deserving of love or affection”. We could all probably recall a time in our lives where we have felt the above definition has been very foreign to us, where we don’t believe that we are lovable. The enemy uses relationships, family breakdown, marriage breakdown, friendships, and social media to instill lies into our minds and hearts to make us believe that we are unlovable. Pastor Bex is on her journey with Jesus and it was amazing that she could share of her experiences of the above and then share the revelations of how in fact the only truth is what God has to say.
And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. [1 John 4:16]
God is love. Not all of love is necessarily God, but all of God is definitely love. The love of God changes us, His love is overwhelming, it never fails, and never changes. God sent the ultimate act of love to earth, Jesus. Jesus was sent to pay a price we could not, Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Jesus knew the task at hand had to be done, Jesus did not throw in the towel even when He was terrified of the sacrifice He had to make. Jesus’ love wrecks us. The love of Jesus pursues us relentlessly, is never ending, and is unconditional - We can’t earn it and we certainly don’t deserve His love. But yet, Jesus was more than willing to love us.
It’s one thing to experience the love of God and another to believe it. If we do not accept that we are loved by God, no amount of words or actions will ever satisfy, we will constantly need affirmation that we are loved. BUT once we decide to believe that we are loved by God, all of our insecurities will fade and our restless soul will find ease.
When we abide in this truth, that we are loved by God, we will abide in the Father and He in us.
We love because he first loved u. [1 John 4:19 ]
Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honou. [Romans 12:9-10]
When you read of Jesus in the new testament, you will see that Jesus never gave a second thought to helping people, ministering to people, loving people, performing miracles on people and just being with people. Jesus always wanted to be present with people, and help wherever He could, Jesus never hesitated when it came to people.
When we believe that Jesus loves us so intimately and unconditionally, this will compel us to help others. We, C3 Church Wellington, believe that it is so important not to just keep the love of Jesus to ourselves but to let it compel us to share the love with as many people as possible but to also practically help them where they need us too. Jesus did, so will we.
Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have. Love doesn’t strut, doesn’t have a swelled head, doesn’t force itself on others; isn’t always me first, doesn’t fly off the handle, doesn’t keep score of the sins of others, doesn’t revel when others grovel, takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, puts up with anything, trusts God always, always looks for the best, never looks back, but keeps going to the end. Love never dies. [1 Corinthians 13: 4-9]
Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love. [1 Corinthians 13:13]
Perfect love casts out all fear. When we know and believe the love of Jesus as real and tangible, there is no room for fear, insecurities, or lies. The love of Jesus is greater than anything else in this world.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. [Ephesians 2:10]
Pastor Bex says her take on the verses above are; You are created in His image, Jesus loves you. God has many good things ahead for you, He wants to use you for good, for His glory, and He has prepared many moments for you. The best part? All you have to do is to trust him and be obedient, to walk closely with Him.
Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. [Psalm 36:5]
“Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re in between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end – because I am God, your personal God. The Holy of Israel, your saviour. I paid a huge price for you; that’s how much you mean to me! That’s how much I love you! I’d sell off the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you. [Isaiah 43:2-]
For God SO loved the world (to such a great extent), that he gave his only Son, that WHOEVER believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [John 3:16]
Each of these verses describes the precious love that God has for us. These verses also demonstrate the extent God was willing to go, to captivate our hearts - to the extent for us to be His.
At C3 Church Wellington, our hope and prayer is that everyone has the opportunity to experience the love of Jesu. A moment in his presence can change your life. When you feel his love towards you, nothing can even compare to that experience. God’s love is pure, He reserves nothing. You are worth it, He loves you extravagantly. You are lovable!! ou, yes you. Right now, right where you are, right this minute. You are his son, you are his daughter. You are created by Him, for Him.
So now I live with the confidence that there is nothing in the universe with the power to separate us from God’s love. I’m convinced that his love will triumph over death, life’s troubles, fallen angels, or dark rulers in the heavens. There is nothing in our present or future circumstances that can weaken his love. There is no power above us or beneath us – no power that could ever be found in the universe that can distance us from God’s passionate love, which is lavished upon us through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One! [Romans 8:38-39]
